by KC from Casey The VFL's reigning premier North Ballarat proved too good for a listless Casey Scorpions to record a 32-point win in their qualifying final at TEAC Oval on Sunday.
The Scorpions opened the game with confidence and made most of the early running. They had every reason to be confident because, in their only encounter this year played in difficult conditions at Ballarat, they became the first team to down the Roosters. A second victory would have greatly enhanced their premiership aspirations.

by KC from Casey The Casey Scorpions cruised their way into the VFL finals series with a 38 point win over the Werribee Tigers at Avalon Airport Arena at the weekend - a similar result give or take a few points to their last encounter at the same venue earlier last month.
And the similarities didn't end there - just as the Tigers put up a great fight last time they met, Werribee gave the visitors a tough welcome and took a 10 point lead into the first break and then Casey fought back to record a comprehensive win. This time, the Scorpions are finals bound |

by KC from Casey The Casey Scorpions retained third spot on the VFL ladder with a 13 point win over the Northern Bullants at Visy Park on Saturday. The hard fought victory in a game played in difficult conditions with swirly winds also secured the double chance that a top four finish brings.

by KC from Casey
The scenes in the home side's change rooms at half time at Casey Fields must have been interesting. Casey had been outplayed in virtually every facet of the game and the score line had it trailing the lowly Gold Coast Suns by 44 points after a nine goals to four second quarter. The Scorpions had dug a big hole for themselves and Brad Gotch now expected his charges to work their way out of the mire. With the finals in sight, the team's hard fought position in the top four of the VFL ladder was at stake. A loss in the its final home game of the season was simply unacceptable and nothing less than a comprehensive team effort was necessary to extricate itself from this position.

by KC at Casey The Casey Scorpions won an important clash between two of the VFL's major contenders and tightened their grip on their place in the all-important top four with a comprehensive 25-point victory over the Collingwood at Victoria Park on Sunday. In doing so they not only avenged their home loss to the Magpies earlier in the season but defied most of the pundits who gave them little chance of winning against a star-studded line up containing several big AFL names including Jack Anthony, Josh Fraser, Paul Medhurst, Shane O'Bree, Sean Rusling and Cameron Wood. |
